Technical.ly: Maryland Data Security Company Enveil Opens London Office

The new international office comes on the heels of a $10 million Series A for the company.

Excerpt: Two weeks after closing on a $10 million Series A, Fulton-based Enveil is making international expansion moves.

The data security company is opening a new office in London, which will be led by Oliver White, who is head of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa within the company.

When news of the funding round led by C5 Capital broke, CEO Ellison Anne Williams said global expansion would be among the company’s priorities. Enveil previously worked on global issues at an event run by the Financial Conduct Authority called the Global Anti-Money Laundering TechSprint in London last year, where it was named among the winners. VP of Sales Craig Trautman called the new office “an important first step toward expanding our footprint in the regions most directly affected by evolving global regulatory standards.”

Built using a technique developed inside the intelligence community called homomorphic encryption, Enveil’s technology is designed to keep data protected while it is being queried or analyzed — in other words, while it is “in use.” Until now, Williams has said data has had to be decrypted during this phase.
